Rhododendrons
Captain
Talbot Fletcher, who inherited the Margam Estate in 1918, was a
keen botanist. He helped finance the plant hunter Frank
Kingdon-Ward. On one of his expedition to the Himalayas,
Kingdon-Ward brought back plants and seed for the gardens here at
Margam, he included many newly discovered types of rhododendrons
and azaleas. In spring the many rhododendron bushes in the
park burst into flower.
