Hillfort Viewpoint
The hillfort behind Margam Castle
provides view point over to New pond. The hillfort was occupied by
the Silures, an Iron Age tribe, who fought with the Romans from
48AD until 70AD. New Pond was dug by hand in 1926 on the order of
Captain Talbot Fletcher, he had inherited the Margam Estate in
1918. It was originally used as a boating lake.
