Disabled Parking

We have dedicated parking spaces for disabled visitors, located to the rear of the Castle and in the Orangery car park. Disabled parking spaces are limited and available on a first come first serve basis. Entry to the park is free, car park charges apply.

Mobility Scooter Hire

All-terrain Mobility Scooters are available to hire on a first come, first serve basis. The scooters allow visitors with mobility restrictions to enjoy the picturesque landscape, architecture and wildlife that the park has to offer. On collection of the mobility scooter you will be given a leaflet with two distinct routes in the Park. You will also be shown around the scooter to familiarise the controls before use.

To book a scooter in advance email:    01639 374255  Scooters can also be booked on the day at the Turbine House (subject to availability).

Hire cost: £2 per hour and a refundable deposit of £10 payable on the day.

Scooter collection point: The Turbine House, near the park entrance.

Wheelchair access is possible to some areas of the park. However, due to the vast landscape, mixed terrain and historic nature of some of the buildings, accessibility may be difficult in many areas. A map displaying two suggested paths for all-terrain mobility scooters and wheelchair users is available to collect from the car park entrance cabin or from the Turbine House on arrival.

Disabled toilets are available near the park entrance and in the Castle Visitor Courtyard. These is a designated baby changing room as well as a family toilet in the castle Visitor Courtyard with additional baby changing tables in the female toilets. Our on-site take-away café in the Castle Visitor Courtyard, Charlottes Pantry, is accessible for wheelchair users.

Margam Country Park is a member of the Hynt scheme. Hynt is a national access scheme working with a network of arts and culture attractions across Wales. Hynt cardholders are entitled to a ticket free of charge for a carer or personal assistant for our events. There will be a Mobiloo onsite for our Bank Holiday events, providing fully accessible toilet and changing facilities.

Guide Dogs

We welcome trained guide dogs to assist you during your visit to Margam Country Park. There are areas of the park where dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Water bowls are available in the Castle Visitor Courtyard and we supply dog waste bags at the entrance cabin should you forget to bring yours. Click here for more information on bringing a dog to Margam Country Park.

Bank Holidays and Special Event Days

For specific days we bring in a DANSA Disability Bus which is free to use and runs in a circuit from the Orangery Car Park up to the Castle - it can be used by the less able and is equipped with a wheelchair lift. Please check that this is available if you are booking for an event.
