The Train

Sit back, relax and take in the spectacular views from the Margam Park Train.

The route will take you through Margam Country Park's beautiful historic landscape. Enjoy spectacular views beside New Pond as the track runs over the dam, enjoy the vista across the lake to the distant Castle and terrace walls as you wind your way to the castle station.

The ‘Margam Train’ is a diesel powered locomotive and runs on a 24" gauge railway. It has three covered carriages, each holding 24 people, there are facilities for wheelchairs to board the train.

Train station locations: Car park station, near the car park entrance cabin. Castle Station, near the Castle Courtyard.

Train operating times: Operates during the Spring and Summer Season at weekends, bank holidays and school holidays. Closed for Autumn Winter Season. Please check in advance for details.

Please note during bad weather and quiet periods the train timetable may be altered or the train service may be cancelled. 

Train Prices: Adult: £3.25, Child/ OAP: £1.70 (Children under the age of three are free). All tickets are valid for a one way journey only. Please note: The train only takes cash payments for tickets, card payments are accepted from the Entrance Cabin and Gift Shop.
