Margam Country Park is open all year round so you will always find something to make the visit worth while whatever the season.

Margam Country Park

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council strive to ensure that the Estate is available for public access and enjoyment and asks you to respect the rules of the Park and to leave this beautiful place as you found it.

Park Admission and Opening Hours

Entry to the park is free, charges for parking apply. Prior to your visit, please check that the date of your visit does not coincide with a special event being held at the Park, for which separate charges apply.

Please note that on Bank Holidays there is a charge ranging from £4.00-£8.50 per adult and £3.00-£6.50 per child depending on the event.

Spring Summer Season 2017:

Parkland and gardens open for walks. Pop to spot the animals on the farm trail or go for a swing in the adventure playground!

  • Open Daily from 10am to 5.00pm
  • Childrens Village open Daily 10 am- 5.00pm. 
  • Margam Park Train runs daily.
  • Park Gift Shop open 11.00-5.00
  • Electric Trampers and Wheelchairs available
  • Free Visitor and Events Guide
  • Charlotte’s Pantry Café opening times vary, please enquire at cabin.
  • Free Entry - Car Parking £5.40 (On Special event days an entry fee will apply).  For facilities, please check opening times on arrival.

Autumn Winter Season 2017/18:

  • 4th September - 2017 - March 2018
  • Open Daily from 10am to 4.30pm (Please note from 1st November to mid Jan-  Monday & Tuesdays open 1.00pm - 4.30pm.)
  • Childrens Village open Daily 10 am- 3.30pm. the Houses open at weekends and during NPTCBC school holidays.
  •  Margam Park Train runs at weekends during September and is them Closed Autumn Winter Season
  • Electric Trampers (at present out of service) and Wheelchairs available

  • Charlotte’s Pantry & Discovery Centre Cafés opening times vary, please enquire at cabin

Travel Information

POST CODE: SA13 2TJ (this gets you close to the Park entrance. Once you see our brown tourist signs follow them.)

By Car:

From the South-East and South-West: the M4 motorway runs directly to Margam from London and from Heathrow (the M25/M24 from Gatwick Airport); the M5/M4 from the West Country; and the M6/M5/M50/M4 from the Midlands and the North; the M4 from West Wales.

Exit at Junction 38

By Bus:

Stops at main road entrance, 5 minutes walk to reception area
From Bridgend & Pyle: First Cymru X1 or X4
From Neath: First Cymru 226 or 227 to Port Talbot Bus Station, then X1 or X4
From Port Talbot Bus & Train Stations: First Cymru X1 or X4
From Swansea: First Cymru X1

By Coach:

The closest coach station when arriving by coach is within the Port Talbot bus station. It is then easy to catch either the First Cymru X1 or X4 bus which will drop to at the main road entrance to the park. For further coach information www.npt.gov.uk/PDF/visitorguide_publictransport.pdf

By Train:

Frequent Great Western links London Paddington, Reading, Swindon and Bristol Parkway (connections from north east England and Midlands) with Port Talbot. Arriva Trains Wales direct to Port Talbot from Cardiff, Newport, Hereford, Shrewsbury, Crewe and Manchester, with connections at Cardiff from south and west of England. For overseas visitors, there are good rail/air links from London Gatwick & Heathrow, Bristol and Cardiff International Airports.
