Furzemill Pond The enclosed area alongside the train track is Furzemill. It is an area that the deer are excluded from. The lake is home to many types of coarse fish with some large grass carp. In 2003 the Environment Agency helped remove many of the small fish. In the summer the open glades are excellent for spotting butterflies. This is a peacock butterfly. The range of vegetation provides many places for birds to nest. Here is a song thrush nest.
