Park Rules & Regulations

Visitor Information and Park Guidance

Please help us protect the park by following the guidance below and leaving the park as you found it.
For reference, visitors should be aware of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and its subsequent amendments.

Do not feed or touch the animals – including wildlife in the park and animals on the Rare Breed Farm Trail.

Metal Detecting
Not permitted anywhere in the park.

Vehicles & Parking
Parking is allowed only in designated car parks.
Only authorised vehicles may drive within the park.
All vehicles must:

  • Use hazard lights
  • Keep to the 15mph speed limit
  • Give way to pedestrians
    Blue Badge parking is available behind the Castle and in the Orangery car park.

E‑Scooters
Not permitted within the park.

Drones
Use of personal drones is not allowed.

Dogs
Dogs must be under control at all times and must not disturb visitors, wildlife or other animals.
Dog waste bags are available from the car park kiosk and can be placed in any park litter bin.
Dogs must be kept on leads in:

  • The Orangery Gardens
  • The Castle Gardens
  • The Farm Trail

Litter
To protect wildlife, litter bins are limited. Please take your litter home wherever possible. Bins are provided in picnic areas, and all waste collected on site is sorted and recycled.

BBQs & Fires
Portable BBQs are not permitted.
A designated BBQ site is available to hire through the Park Office.
Fires, fireworks and Chinese lanterns are not allowed anywhere in the park.

Watercourses & Lakes
Swimming or bathing is not permitted. Underwater hazards and currents may be dangerous.
Do not obstruct drains, water flow or touch any sluice gates.

Fishing
Fishing is not currently in operation at the park.
When active, permits must be purchased at the entrance kiosk with a valid Environment Agency rod licence.

Access
Some areas may be closed during events. Event information is available on the website or from the Park Office.

Cycling
Designated bike trails are available throughout the park.
Cycling is not permitted in the Orangery Gardens.

Footpaths
Certain park footpaths may occasionally be closed, except for public rights of way.

Tents & Gazebos
Not permitted without prior consent from the Park Office.

Wildlife, Plants & Timber
Please do not remove wildflowers, shrubs, plant material or timber.
Do not disturb wildlife, nests or eggs, and refrain from any activity involving hunting, shooting, trapping or snaring.
