What do deer eat?

Grass forms the main food of the fallow deer, but brambles, ivy and acorns are also eaten.
 

• It is important to control the deer numbers so that there is no food shortage in hard weather; if uncontrolled a deer herd can double its numbers in three years. Normally old or injured animals are removed from the herd.
